The State of Philippine Tech Careers in 2026
The Philippine technology sector is at an inflection point. For years, Filipino developers were largely employed by BPO companies and outsourcing firms — building other people's products, on other people's timelines, with limited ownership of the outcomes.
That is changing. A new generation of Philippine-born technology companies is emerging — and with it, a new kind of career opportunity: one where you build something real, you own it, and you grow with it.
Skaly is one of those companies. And in 2026–2027, we are hiring technical talent across every discipline: front-end, back-end, AI, automation, and implementation.
The Technical Career Ladder at Skaly
Junior Developer (0–2 years)
Whether you join as a Front-End Developer or Back-End Developer, your first 12–24 months at Skaly are about building depth.
You will:
- Ship real features to production — not toy projects
- Work in a modern stack (Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Prisma)
- Receive structured code reviews from senior engineers
- Build a strong understanding of how a SaaS platform works end-to-end
Salary range: ₱35,000–₱45,000/month
Mid-Level Developer (2–4 years)
You've shipped, you've broken things, you've fixed them. You understand the product deeply enough to make architectural decisions at the feature level.
At this stage, you will:
- Lead features from spec to deployment
- Participate in technical planning and architecture discussions
- Begin mentoring junior developers
- Take ownership of specific platform modules
Salary range: ₱45,000–₱55,000/month
Senior Developer / Technical Lead (4+ years)
Senior engineers at Skaly own systems, not just code. You are responsible for:
- System design and technical architecture
- Cross-team technical alignment
- Mentoring and growing junior and mid-level developers
- Driving engineering standards and code quality
Salary range: ₱50,000–₱70,000/month
Specialist Tracks: AI and Automation
As Skaly's platform evolves, two specialist paths are opening up that are among the most in-demand — and highest-compensated — in Philippine tech.
AI Expert
The AI Expert at Skaly integrates LLM APIs (Claude, GPT-4), builds intelligent features, and designs RAG pipelines and AI-powered workflows. This is not a research role — it is an applied AI engineering role, shipping features used by real clients every week.
The path to AI Expert typically comes from:
- A strong back-end or Python engineering background
- Experience with LLM APIs and prompt engineering
- Demonstrated ability to build production AI systems
Automation Expert
The Automation Expert builds the connective tissue between Skaly and the tools our clients already use — payment systems, messaging apps, CRMs. Working with n8n, Make, and custom webhook logic, you design flows that replace hours of manual work for hundreds of businesses.

The Implementor Path: From Deployment to Product Engineering
One of the most underrated career paths at Skaly starts with the Implementor role.
An Implementor deploys and configures the Skaly platform for new clients — ensuring they go live within 72 hours. It is a technical role that does not require a computer science degree, and it is the fastest way to gain deep, end-to-end knowledge of how the Skaly platform works.
The natural progression:
Implementor → Technical Support → Junior Developer → Mid-Level Developer
If you are a self-taught developer, a TESDA graduate, or someone who learned through online courses and wants a foot in the door of a real tech company, the Implementor role is the place to start.
What We Actually Look For in Technical Hires
For junior roles: We don't care about your degree. We care about what you've built. Show us something — a GitHub repo, a deployed project, a Vercel link. Code that works beats a certificate.
For mid-level and senior roles: We want to understand how you think, not just what you know. Tell us about a system you designed that you later had to redesign. Tell us about a bug that took you three days to find. The story is more interesting than the solution.
For all roles: We hire people who are honest about what they don't know, eager to learn what they need to, and capable of working independently without constant hand-holding.
Working at Skaly: What the Stack Actually Looks Like
We are transparent about our technical environment because we want engineers who are excited by it:
- Next.js 16 (App Router, TypeScript 5 strict)
- React 19 with Framer Motion for UI
- Tailwind CSS v4 (CSS-first, no config file)
- PostgreSQL via Neon serverless + Prisma ORM
- Vercel deployment (edge functions, Blob storage)
- Zod v4 for all validation
- Nodemailer for transactional email
This is not a legacy codebase. Everything was built in 2025–2026 using the latest stable releases. When a new version ships, we upgrade. When something better exists, we use it.
